Chapter 447
(Author’s POV)
Hearing his remark, Myra turned her face to the side and hesitated, “Ummm~… I~… I have just woken up. Maybe, that’s why.” Though it didn’t make sense, Brave, like a true gentleman, nodded.
“Yelena, did you also arrive just now~ Nora asked, then her eyes lingered on the wrinkled pyjamas she was wearing, adding, “Umm~ I guess not p>
Yelena soon realised it and became flustered. She instantly got up from the seat. “I will come back in a bit,” saying this, she picked up a bag and disappeared into the bathroom. She looked herself in the mirror. Her bird’s nest-like hair, the bags under her eyes, and her overall messy appearance all gave her a near fright, which soon turned into embarrassment as she saw her cheeks turning a bright shade of crimson.
Outside, Nora occupied the seat beside Myra. Brave brought out the overbed table and adjusted it. But before anybody else could do something, Alaric came, placed the lunch box and started to lid off the containers. This sudden, out-of-character move not only surprised Myra but also his two siblings.
As he placed the spoon, he tried to take a peek at Myra’s face, who was already boring her eyes at him, her expression unreadable. She just kept staring at him. He was about to put a cloth napkin around her when William interrupted, “Mr. Everests, give it to me. I will do it p>
William took it and carefully folded it around Myra’s neck. Then he turned around and said, “It would be rude for me to eat all this alone. Please join me for breakfast, Mr. Everests, Nora p>
“Uncle Will, I have already had my breakfast. Brothers, you two go ahead,” Nora pushed them away and started feeding Myra. After Myra took the first sip, Nora asked, her eyes expectant, “How is it? Do you like it? I haven’t cooked anything in a while, so~ don’t know if it would suit your palate p>
“It’s good,” Myra uttered as she gave Nora a soft smile. Nora reciprocated the gesture. It felt like they had rewound the clock and were back in Damona. She then fed her another spoonful and asked, “So~… how’s your life in Esteria p>
“It’s alright. Nothing fancy, just ordinary,” Myra’s answer was short and simple.
“Aaaaaanddd~… what about Red Stone? How is your university life?” Nora probed some more.
“It’s okay as well. Nothing different from before,” Myra mumbled.
“Ohhoo~… you don’t have to be so modest with me. Brother Dio told me everything. That you got in there on a full-time scholarship and are the first to do so. Plus, you are currently at the top of the rank in the finance department. That’s not ’just nothing.’ That’s so coooool. Way too cool,” Nora praised her to the nines. “I knew I was right to be friends with a genius like you.” She crinkled as she fed Myra another spoonful.
That conversation struck Brave somehow, as he stopped midway. Raw was perplexed as well, as he remarked, ’First person to get full time scholarship? At Red Stone? Finance Department? All these are not just ringing bells; they are pealing inside my brain p>
Then he remembered something, a significant detail and shouted, ’Ahhhaaa~ She is the mysterious girl from the banquet. The one that attend with the Red Stone professor. Remember how the girl kept avoiding eye contact. Uhhh~… now I know why. She was trying to hide from us. That means, she knew from the start that we were in Esteria p>
Brave gazed at Myra’s smiling face, a complicated feeling took root inside him. Raw felt a pang inside his chest as well.
Alaric followed his twin’s line of sight, and his grip on the cutlery involuntarily tightened. Neither he nor Alex liked the way Brave was ogling Myra.
“How have you been doing?” Myra asked this time. Her voice came out much clearer.
“I~… I am doing good,” Nora replied, her tone casual, despite her earlier hesitation. “Currently, I am undergoing fitness training as well as working as an intern at the headquarters,” Nora told her.
As the two were busy making small talk, a knock on the door interrupted them. Then it slid open.
As soon as both Myra and her father’s eyes landed on the person, their expression shifted gradually. William stood up at once and said, “Mrs. Garcia, what are you doing here?” His tone came out stern. He realized, smoothed his voice and corrected himself. “I mean~… what are you doing so early in the morning p>
“I came to see Myra,” Amy said, her voice soft and light as she entered. She stepped inside elegantly, carrying a basket of ripe oranges in one hand, while holding a small bouquet of fresh white tulips in the other. This time, she was alone. Like last night, Sebastian wanted to tag along, but Amy insisted to go alone. She wanted to have a serious and deep conversation with her daughter. She wanted to tell her about what actually happened in the past. She wanted to explain her thoroughly. But to her utter dismay, she was a step too late.
With so many people around, Amy surely didn’t have a chance to have a proper conversation. But still, she didn’t lose hope and approached Myra, a friendly, charismatic smile plastered on her face. She gave Myra the tulips, “Myra, for you~ her voice dripping with affection.
Myra took a glance at the flowers and immediately understood the meaning. She was a plant lover and knew what those tulips symbolized. With a rather plain voice, she said, “Mrs. Garcia, I am afraid, I can’t take it right now p>
Amy’s face fell instantly. But she didn’t lose heart. She had come prepared, expecting such coldness.
She placed the flowers to the side and asked, “Are you feeling better now, hmm?” trying to sound much more cheerful.
Myra felt the five pairs of gaze directed towards her. So, out of basic courtesy, she spoke, “Yes, I am p>
Nora was confused~ so she couldn’t help but ask, “Umm~… who this is? p>
“Let me introduce myself. I am Amy Garcia. Myra and I are~ Amy said, but was quickly interrupted by Myra, “She is someone I met a few days ago by chance p>
