Chapter 343

(Author’s POV)

“Argghhhhh St~op~… st~ op~ move~ ing. Can you?” Alaric grunted, his voice came out heavy as he gasped for air. Their lips were just a few inches apart, his gigantic built caging Myra’s relatively smaller body closely.

Myra, who has been just staring into his sapphires without blinking up until that moment, got flustered by his strained, suppressed voice. And then realisation dawned at what was truly happening. Though they both were fully clothed, the heat radiating from their inner sanctum was so obvious that it could burn down the entire place. His hardness pressing on, crushing her concealed opening, was palpable.

The profound silence and the ambiguous surroundings weren’t working in their favor either. It made things worse.

Feeling scared, her face turned ashen. She, once again, tried to weasel out of this torture filled entrapment, but of course, this made things bad to worse for our Lycan wolf. He was already on the edge, trying to keep his wolf in control, his heart in check, and his desires in curb.

And his wolf, poor Alex~… he was going through a difficult time as well. He had faced countless enemies, and every time, every single time, he fought them without any problem; not once did he falter or lose control of the situation. But right in this moment, his mind was filled with the urgency to have his mate. It was clouding his rationality. He has been starving for this closeness, this touch.

How could he rein in his dainty desire? That was nearly impossible. At the end of the day, he was an animal, a wolf at that, so how could he control his instinct? Wolves were well known predators, famous for their salaciousness.

Alaric was just about to lose all restraint over Alex as the latter was inches apart from breaking free, but when their gaze landed on Myra’s eyes, they were transfixed by what they saw.

Myra’s eyes were moist, glistening with tears that were ready to spill any minute. She was biting her lower lip hard, so tightly that it changed color from pale pink to bloody crimson.

Seeing her in this vulnerable state, Alaric’s eyes flickered with guilt and next came embarrassment. He got up at once and sat on the floor, resting his head on the shelf, his breathing still uneven.

“I am ~ he was in the middle of saying something when Myra abruptly got up, looked him in the eye with bloodshot eyes, her voice shivering, “I hate you, Alaric Everests.” And with that, she ran off and out of the library, scurrying away aimlessly.

The raw pain and animosity Myra’s face had stirred something deep within Alaric. He rushed out, chasing after her. As he came out, he scanned around, but Myra was nowhere. Habitually, he whizzed the air, but her scent, as usual, couldn’t be traced.

The surge of frustration coursed through him as he started running towards the path they had come from. Passerbys, professors, students. Everyone who saw him running frantically out of the department building was confused as well as curious.

By this time, the news of his arrival had spread like wildfire on the campus. Nearly everyone knew that ’the Alaric Everests’ was visiting Red Stone. His snaps were posted and reposted from various angles as he was looking dapper, giving a speech, all clad up in his suit.

The forum was buzzing with his photos, as several people liked, commented and shared them, making it the trending hot news. His every move was being watched and captured. People were murmuring, talking about him. He could hear it all.

But Alaric simply didn’t give a damn about all this. His sole focus remained on finding Myra. Her heartbroken image was stuck in his head like a bad, annoying stain.

Interestingly, no matter how much he tried to look for Myra, he simply couldn’t find her. It was just like that time at the airport in Damona. She had simply vanished, with no trace, no scent, no sign. That dreadful thought filled Alex with despair.

With no choice, Alaric dashed his way towards Myra’s house.

On the other side, Myra was running like someone was chasing after her, never stopping, never looking back. She has been getting good at this, as in all her nightmares, she was always trying to run away from something or someone.

For the entire time, she had tried to endure, to act like Alaric’s existence didn’t matter to her. His presence didn’t affect her in the least bit, but~ this was far… far away from the truth. She was thoroughly shaken, inside and out.

Out of all the Everests’ brothers, the one she never wanted to cross paths with was Alaric. Why? Because he was there that day, the day when those filthy, sleazy men who tried to abduct her, almost sexually assaulted her and planned to murder her afterwards.

It was something she could never forget in this lifetime, ever. Although he told her that those people~… he wasn’t the one to send them and took care of her after that, but Myra remained skeptical. To her, he was still a suspect.

For many nights, she had contemplated on this and came to the conclusion that maybe Alaric had ordered them to kidnap and scare her off so that she would never return to Kimberg. And what happened afterwards was all those immoral, corrupt men’s doing, the rape attempt, the murder. But he was involved, she was sure of it.

And today’s incident, what happened inside the library, it had triggered her hidden trauma. The trauma no one was aware of.

Myra sprinted, trying to get away from all this mess. But she didn’t want to go home or to her department building. It would only tip others off, and they would obviously question her about her dishevelled state or even if no one notices, they would ask her about how things went with Alaric. She was, in no capacity, ready to talk about him.

After coming to some distant, scarcely populated place, Myra halted her steps. She gasped for oxygen, her breathing erratic. Her cheeks as well as her chin were tear stained as she sobbed, whimpered painfully, mournfully.

“*Sniffling* Why does he~… *sob* have to show up like that? Why is he~ doing this~… *sob*… to me? Why? WHY? WHYYYYYYY?” she repeatedly asked, her voice came out hoarse, broken. “Everyth~ing everything~ was going fine, so why did he show up? WHYYYY? Why is he still… *sob*… trying to~ trying to mess with my mind? I already cut ties, so why p>

She crouched down, buried her face in her knees and broke into another spell of wailing. Her tear filled voice, her trembling body, was a heart wrenching sight to see.

All of a sudden, she felt a gust of wind coming from her side, and the next second, she was in someone’s embrace. The person held her tightly, catching her completely off guard.

For a few seconds, Myra’s body was paralysed. She went into a state of complete shock. It took her five to six seconds to process what was happening. Then, with all her might, she tried to get out of that caged enclasp, her voice came out rough yet alert, “Who~… who are you? Let me go. Let~ Me~ Go p>

But the person didn’t follow; they tightened their grip on her and murmured, trying to bring some comfort to her, “Myra~ Relax. You need to calm down and breathe.” They patted her back soothingly, as if they were cradling a child.

Myra’s eyes flew open. She knew that all too familiar voice.

“GUNNAR, WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING?” Fabian roared. “Why did you call? It’s better be urgent, or I will send you to~ he didn’t complete his words, but the person on the other side of the line understood his meaning clearly. “Now, SPEAK p>

With a nervous voice, Gunnar started, “Young master, there is trouble in the office. After you left, I don’t know how they got the news, but the Vampire Clan elders came, demanding to see you immediately.” He then went on to tell, “Although Sir Chris told them that you were out on business, they are being persistent, creating havoc in the office. I didn’t mean to disturb your business, but I didn’t have a choice as your phone is powered off p>

Fabian closed his eyes. By his free hand, he pinched his glabella as an annoyance filled sound came out of his mouth, “Tskkkkk… let Chris handle them. It will take me some time.” Saying this, he glanced in the direction of the Architecture building was.

“But young master~… the elders, they are~ Gunnar tried to reason with him. He had seen first hand how those ’Elders’ had treated Fabian all these years. They have always tried to create trouble for him, looked down upon him for his origin and lack of vampire abilities.
