Chapter 352
(Author’s POV)
“Did Mr. Larson~ did he really~ Myra’s voice cracked as she struggled to say that ineffable word. Not just her hand that was holding the receiver was trembling, but her entire body shivered in that moment. The news was so shocking, she felt like someone had really gouged her organs out.
For Myra, Jacob Larson was someone she really admired from the depths of her heart. Not in a romantic sense, instead she looked upto him and wanted to follow his path. Ever since she got to know that the scholarship program was sponsored by him, she started esteeming him. His achievements, his wisdom, she wanted to be like him.
Even at the banquet, she was most excited to meet Jacob, her and her family’s saviour, who gave her not just a mere chance, but a lifetime opportunity to turn her life around. And unlike some people, it wasn’t an act of charity or pity.
But hearing Wendy say that he was dead made her feel like she was struck by a thunderbolt.
Dion, thanks to his superb hearing ability, heard everything Wendy said from the other side. He, too, was stunned by this revelation.
Meanwhile, Wendy continued, “That’s what the news channels and media outlets have been showing all evening, uproaring about it. When sis Yel and I read the news, we were truly shocked. She even sprinted out of the house to go to the crash site to see the situation. She told me that Chairman Larson was her grandpa’s friend. I have been trying to reach her, but her phone is switched off.” She sighed and mumbled to herself, “I had to tell her about you as well, but~ I don’t know how to contact her p>
With a strained voice, Myra said, “I will~… I will talk to you later, Wendy,” and she abruptly ended the call.
With shaky fingers, she made a call to Yelena right away, but just like Wendy told her, the mechanical voice echoed, “The number you have dialled is not answerable. Please try again later p>
Myra felt a pang in her heart at the thought of the tragedy, her eyes bloodshot. Then a switch flipped in her mind as she thought of calling Fabian. But as she was about to dial his number, she recalled that she didn’t remember it.
She wanted to know what was going on. If the news was really true. As she was rattling her brain to find a way, only then did she recall Dion was here as well. He has been looking at her with those dark, unfathomable eyes. His body seemed rigid.
With a heavy voice, Myra spoke, “Mr. Everests~ Mr. Everests~ p>
Actually, Dion wasn’t looking at her. He was trying to mindlink Alaric, but strangely enough, he wasn’t replying as well.
“Dion~ Myra’s voice interrupted him, and the next second, his eyes changed back to his normal gold greens. She spoke, “Dion~ I really need to go back to Esteria.” Her voice came more like a plea.
Seeing her in such a discombobulated state, he took her hand in his, in an attempt to stabilize her rattled emotions. This time, Myra didn’t push him back, her mind elsewhere. And quite unexpectedly, his powers worked on her. Slowly and gradually, Myra could feel a surge of soothing, comforting energy radiating from Dion’s hands. The knot in her throat eased as well.
Dion then mumbled, “I will make a call to my people and arrange for our departure.” His assuring words made her slightly relaxed.

“Did you see something, Mr. Everests?” Chris asked with nervousness as Alaric disembarked on the shore.
His hair, along with his face, was soaked from the seawater, though, thanks to the dry diver’s suit, his remaining body remained warm and crisp. Due to werewolves, impeccable night vision, Alaric thought it would be easy for him to detect Jacob’s position. After all, he wasn’t just a regular werewolf but a royal blooded Lycan. But when he entered the water and started his search, despite his night vision amplifying, his sense of smell was highly reduced, almost negligible.
A person who had, his entire life, tracked down people with their unique scents was having a hard time underwater. But Alaric wasn’t going to tell Chris about that, would he? It could be counted as a weakness, and to show one was not an option. And at the time when he was underwater, Dion was trying to mind link with him, but he couldn’t get connected.
But one thing was that, when he got near a certain area, Alex felt a distinct scent, unique only to the Vampire kind. It was very faint, almost exiguous, but it was there. He was certain of that.
With a firm voice, he started, “Secretary Shadow~ but was interrupted by an unexpected person. Seeing them, he stopped and asked, “Rave, what are you doing here p>
Brave was alongside Fabian as they approached the other two, “I just landed. Prof. Stephens gave me a rundown of the situation. Did you find any clues p>
All three of them looked at Alaric with expectant eyes, and even Fabian was anticipating his words. Despite not liking Alaric~ actually, even hating him~ If his grandfather could be saved by him, he would be forever grateful to him.
Alaric exhaled a sigh and said, “I looked all around the water but didn’t find any trace~ He paused slightly and observed the faces going grim. Then he added, “But~ When I embarked on the boat, Alex traced a fading smell, peculiar to the Vampires,” he concluded.
Both Chris and Fabian’s eyes glinted with fresh hope as the former said, “Then what are we waiting for? Let’s rescue him p>
Ruffling his wet hair, Alaric muttered, his voice sounded regretful, “It is not that simple. Due to the unpredictable weather conditions, the tides have gotten stronger, and so have the waves. The rescue~… it cannot be done under such circumstances p>
On his words, a fresh and powerful wave started crashing onto the shore, making any search and rescue chances bleak. They didn’t even notice when the starry sky had shifted to a clouded and gloomy one.
At this point, trying to save Jacob could be considered a suicide mission. After all, two of the people present were werewolves, and two were humans, one a tinge bit of vampire. No one was god, they can’t fight the course of nature, can they?
All of a sudden, Fabian started marching towards the sea, his eyes fixated ahead, flashing determination. After knowing that his grandfather was there and still alive, he couldn’t sit back and do nothing. Also fading scent meant that Jacob was slowly diminishing. It can’t be delayed for even a minute.
Chris rushed towards him to stop, “Young~ ahhhh~ Prof. Stephens, you can’t do that. It is way too dangerous out there. Please listen to me.” He tried to pull him back by literally clasping his waist tightly. But Fabian, neither did he say a word, nor did he stop. He dragged Chris along with him.
Brave and Alaric were both puzzled and stunned to see Fabian react like that. Alaric remained rooted to his spot, his face held a complicated expression as his twin joined Chris to stop Fabian from entering the door to his death.
“Fabian Stephens, we need to stay calm and think of a solution first. Jumping into the water like that won’t work. Don’t do something you will regret,” Brave tried to convince him.
“I won’t,” Fabian was set on his mission bring his grandfather back, alive. Brave tried to grab his arm, “Don’t be stubborn, Fabian. Al just told, we can’t~ but Fabian pushed his hand away and screamed, “I SAID I WON’T REGRET IT, OKAY, ALPHA BRAVE. If no one is able to save him, I will do it on my own. Even if it is at the cost of losing my life. I won’t regret it. I will never p>
“That won’t be necessary,” a gentle yet firm voice echoed from a distance. All eyes turned to the person as Brave said, his tone filled with disbelief, his eyes widening, “What are you doing here? Didn’t I tell you to go to the hotel? Did you follow me to this place p>
Before the person could answer him, Alaric added, his eyes were about to come out of their sockets, “What is happening, Brave? You didn’t tell me that~ p>
“Okay, time out, guys. Time out. Did you forget, we have more pressing matters at hand?” the person spoke, loud and clear. They then shifted their gaze to where Fabian and Chris were standing and walked towards them.
Those two were left stupefied to see who the person was. Standing in front of Fabian, they declared, “I can help you in saving Mr. Jacob Larson p>
Brave and Alaric said in unison, “Ain’t no way it is happening. We are not going to let you risk your life p>
