Chapter 406
(Author’s POV)
“We need to talk, Amy,” Sebastian’s stern voice and iron like grasp on Amy’s hand told that he wasn’t going to let her go.
Amy’s eyes, filled with raw desperation, looked at him as she said, “Seb~ Please~ I want to~ p>
Sebastian’s voice echoed, “NO. I need an explanation. Right now.” His no-nonsense attitude made Amy flinch. Even Ezra and Pearl were taken aback by how things had unfolded.
He then turned toward his children and said, “Ezra, Pearl, you both, go back. Your mother and I need to have a long talk.” He didn’t give Amy a chance to protest or his children a chance to question the situation and started walking out of the private room, with Amy in tow.
Pearl looked at their receding figures and asked, “Brother~ what had just happened? Why was father behaving like this? And mother~ And that girl Myra~ I don’t understand, why did she~ p>
“Pea, don’t indulge in adults’ business. Let’s go, I will take you to your room,” Ezra said, quite composedly. Though his mind was churning with the earlier drama. He could piece the story together already.
“Noo~ I am not going. I am coming with you to your dorm,” Pearl insisted.
“Peaa~ you can’t just~” Ezra spoke, but was cut in by his sister, “Bro, it’s a private dorm with a spare room. So, what’s the problem? I don’t want to be alone p>
Ezra pursed his lips tightly and gave in, “Alright p>
“Do you think everything will be fine between them?” she queried tensely.
“Who knows?” Ezra said, a hint of a smile playing on his lips.

“Amy Garcia, what was that just now? What were you trying to do?” Sebastian questioned her as soon as they reached their room.
“Seb, I was going to tell you after confirmation. But~ Amy stammered, trying to explain her side.
Sebastian’s hand flung as his knuckle crashed into the nearby wall, “But~… you didn’t. Instead, you were trying to drop the bomb without considering the consequences. And what confirmation are you talking about? You said~ you lost her. That she was dead. Then what is this, out of the blue p>
“I know you must be taken aback, Seb, by this all of a sudden. It wasn’t my intention. When I first saw her at the banquet, I was also caught off guard by the uncanny similarity. She looked~ She looked just like~ At first, I thought it was just my mind playing tricks. But she had the same habits as mine, the same sesame allergy as mine. Which made me more and more doubtful~ So, with no choice left. To confirm my suspicion, I did a paternity test,” she rummaged through her bag and showed him the report.
Sebastian took it from her and glanced at the crinkled piece of paper. His eyes darted towards the black bold letters at the bottom of the A4-size sheet. Probability of Paternity: 99.999 p>
“See~ Seb, she is my daughter. She is my daughter,” Amy cried while saying this. Her voice held a joy no one could describe in simple words. Sebastian exhaled a heavy sigh as he kept the paper aside and hugged Amy, trying to comfort her.
Amy sobbed into his arms. The tears of sheer joy rolled down her cheeks.
After she relaxed a bit, he sat her down and brought her a glass of lukewarm water. Then he settled beside her, took her hand in his and said, “Amy, I understand how you feel. I really do~ But you should have given me a heads-up. Ms. Miracle, as well as our kids~ they all must have been truly shocked.
Amy nodded, her head lowered, “I am sorry. I should have done that. The children must have confused. I should just~ p>
“No~ for now, you should rest. We will talk to them tomorrow. And by them~ I mean, Ms. Miracle as well. Okay,” Sebastian stated.

Myra was shaken to the core. Though she didn’t hear Amy’s confession completely and ran out, she had already guessed what she was going to say. Inside the elevator, seeing the little girl with her family brought back the deep scars she had always hidden from others.
She thought she had forgotten them. Those haunting memories, she had left them all behind. But they all resurfaced at once. The flood gates were unlatched once again, by the pure innocent voice of the child, pulled Myra back, “Ma’am, why are~… you crying? Did your mom~… scold you p>
Her mother pulled her back and apologized to Myra, “Sia, you should say such things to others. I am sorry, miss p>
Myra shook her head, her voice came out hoarse, “It’s okay. I must have startled her.” At that time, the door slid open. She gave a curt nod and walked out. Though she wasn’t running now, her strides were still rapid.
She came out of the hotel, and as soon as she saw the first cab pulling over, she jumped in, “To Red Stone University p>
The driver, without saying a word, ignited the engine as they drove off.
Rubbing her chest area in circular motion, Myra took deep and even breaths. After some time had passed, she felt she could finally breathe. The suffocation she had felt subsided a lot. Although her mind was still restless.
To distract herself, she took out her phone and found a flurry of messages from Yelena. There were two missed calls from William’s number, as well as a text message from Fabian and an unknown number.
Myra tapped in, and after reading all of Yelena’s frantic messages, she remembered they were going to go home together. In an attempt to get out of that place, she had completely forgotten about that.
She quickly typed in a reply, “I am sorry, Yel. I am in a cab, on my way home. Be back safe, umm The next thing she did was to check what Fabian had texted.
It read, “Myra~… Prof. Johnson told me about what happened at the campus today. Are you alright p>
“I am fine,” she texted back.
Then she cleared her throat and made a call to her father. William’s gentle, comforting voice came from the other end, “Hello, Myra. Are you done with dinner p>
“Ummhmm~… I am in a cab right now,” her voice came out scratchy. She quickly added, “I think I caught a cold p>
“I will prepare a ginger soup for you, ok,” William said. He had sensed something off already.” She hummed and said, “Dad, Yelena’s call is coming. I will talk to you after I get home.” She disconnected the line.
But when she was about to answer the call, she noticed it wasn’t the way to Red Stone.
