Chapter 427
(Author’s POV)
“I would appreciate it if you all could act like you don’t know me and keep the past in the past. Neither my parents nor my sister knows about any of that. And I would like to~… keep it that way,” Myra requested, though her tone remained firm and unrelenting.
She wanted to cut them off again, for good this time. Drawing a clear boundary, she wanted to set the matter straight. After all, getting involved with any of them would do her no good. That mindset of hers hasn’t changed yet.
“NO~ you cannot, Myra~… how can you say that~ Elio was getting sentimental. It pained him to hear such words directly from her mouth.
Myra was doused with guilt. Her eyes lowered instantly as she bit her lower lip tightly. She did this until she tasted blood. The lump in her throat was overwhelming her, but she somehow managed to suppress it and said, “Mr. Everests, this is what I want. Please, for old times’ sake, accept this request of mine p>
Before Elio could respond, Alaric jumped in, “NO CAN DO p>
Myra’s eyelashes fluttered at his blunt rejection as she glanced at him, her brows furrowed and her jaw clenched. Now he was disregarding everything. ’Being his typical self.’ She couldn’t help but snort, making a bewildered expression, “Tired of playing the good guy already, Mr. Everests p>
“To begin with, I… NEVER… WAS,” Alaric answered casually.
“Brother Al, why are you~ Elio interrupted, but was cut off by Alaric, “What? Did I say something wrong, Eli? I was always the bad guy and always will be. That’s the truth, hmm p>
“At least, you are aware,” Myra mocked.
“Myra, Al, didn’t mean it like that. What he is trying to say is~ Dion was about to tell her the reason, but paused mid sentence. All three Everests brothers stiffened as they sensed something and pursed their lips.
“I understood what he meant,” Myra spat back. In her eyes, Alaric just liked to piss her off. He must get a weird satisfaction, some kind of thrill from playing this pull and tug game. She wanted to say more, but was soon barged in on by someone. Someone really very close and familiar.
For the nth time, the door slid as someone stepped inside.
Everyone’s heads turned to look at who it was. The person rushed towards Myra, their eyes rimmed red. The Everests’ brothers and Myra were both left stunned when the person, without any warning, took Myra into their arms. Their hold was tender and gentle as they cradled her.
Myra’s eyes widened in shock. She neither retracted nor surrendered, just remained seated, in a highly awkward position. Soon, she felt a sudden chill run down her spine. All the eyes in the room were on her. They weren’t just looking with curiosity, but each one held intense emotions. Was it jealous? Was it animosity? Or was it nothing? She couldn’t tell.
She batted her lashes and finally spoke the name, “Fabian~ p>
“Myra~ you are alive. You are alive,” Fabian patted her back, still holding her in his embrace. The exhaustion, the weariness, the emptiness, every such emotion was gnawing at him from the past few days.
“Yes, I am,” she replied, now patting his back. She was trying to console him. From their touch, she could tell his entire body was trembling. With the things going on around him, he must have been really stressed out.
Seeing them nestled in each other’s arms, so closely, so securely, all the Everests brothers, including their wolves, wanted to tear them apart. They were overflowing with envy as well as jealousy.
Alaric even clenched his hands so tightly that the sound of his bones crackling could be heard in the almost silent room.
Myra noticed the atmosphere and uttered, while pulling away, “It’s okay, Fabian. I am fine. See for yourself. I am fine p>
Fabian withdrew but didn’t let go of Myra. He had no intention to do so. It was his way of staking his claim. He wanted to declare that Myra was his and he was hers. And those Everests brothers, they didn’t stand any chance whatsoever.
He looked into her eyes and cupped her cheeks, ever so softly, saying, “No, you are not. How can you always say you are fine when you clearly aren’t? Do you even know how worried I have been, hmm?” His thumb brushed past Myra’s lower lip, and he noticed a little bit of blood on it.
This action of his set off all the brothers. Dion couldn’t hold himself and said, “Prof. Stephens, Myra is a patient. You should be careful with your actions and not hug her so recklessly p>
“Right. If any of her wounds were split open. It could lead to inflammation and infection with further complications. Don’t you know that?” Elio backed his brother’s words.
“I know. I care for Myra’s well being as well, Mr. Dion, Mr. Elio. But thank you, thanks to you, I got such valuable insight. I will be careful next time,” Fabian answered calmly as calmly as possible.
Though they were right, but right now, in front of Myra, Dion and Elio looked like they were throwing a childish tantrum. And it showed Fabian as the mature and sensible one.
Myra could feel the tension was going through the roof. She tried to diffuse it, but before she could say anything, Brave came in, holding a basket of fruits. Following him, a woman, wearing a mask, holding a fresh bouquet of white lilies and vibrant sunflowers, entered as well.
As soon as she saw Myra, the beautifully made bouquet slipped from her hands and fell to the ground. Her mouth went ajar. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing.
Myra’s gaze met her purple golds. In an instant, she could feel her world falling apart. At the same time, William and Sandra returned as well. Their eyes landed on the person’s back and the fallen flowers. Sandra couldn’t help but ask, “May I know~ who are you, Miss p>
