“Huhh? What are you saying, father? The child has~ WHAT?” a shocked female voice erupted. “Goo~… go~… gold blo~ Gold blood p>
“Ssssshhhhh~ lower your voice, will you?” a heavy male voice, more like a hush, followed.
The woman lowered her tone as instructed, then she repeated, “Are you saying~ One of them has ’THE GOLD BLOOD’ flowing through her veins? Is that correct p>
The man hummed as he looked at the photo of two toddler aged girls lying on his work desk.
“But Dad~ didn’t you say that experiment turned out to be a failure? They closed the whole damned thing down. Then how? How is this possible?” another young male voice came, sounding confused.
The older man rubbed his temples~ clearly tired and distressed. He let out a heavy sigh and said, “It’s complicated~ p>
“What is complicated in this? Tell me about it~ you promised that you wouldn’t get involved in such a thing, ever. So, what’s up with this now? No~… first tell us~ how did you even know she has gold blood in her? Did you even get it right?” the young male voice said, with a bit of edge and annoyance.
The older one licked his lips as he took the chair behind the desk and crossed his legs. He didn’t give them any answer and said, “I didn’t call you two here for nagging and arguing. I have a task in hand p>
“DAD~ the young man also yelled, but was soon cut off by the older one, his voice deafening, “SILENCE~ p>
The other two shuddered.
“Silence and listen to me first,” he affirmed imposingly.
The young male and the female pressed their lips in a thin line as they stood side by side, looking at the older man sitting in front of them.
“These two kids~ they are currently living in an orphanage facility. I need you to find proper families for them to be adopted into,” he commanded.
“WHAT?” the woman exclaimed.
“Not very fancy, influential ones. Just ordinary families, where they can live a normal life,” he added, nonchalantly.
The younger male narrowed his eyes and asked, “I will do as you say~… but before that~… I need you to answer a few questions p>
The older guy gave him the nod.
“First of all, tell us how you found out about their existence? How do you know they are at an orphanage? Are you still doing those things~… Did you lie to us?” the younger one fired, one question after another.
The older man placed both his hands on the desk, joining them as he answered, “Because I was the one who brought them here p>
“You did not~ the female said, in disbelief. “Fat~ Father, did you~… did you steal them p>
“I did,” the older man said, his expression not giving away anything.
“But you said you revoked your hand from that evil deed. So, what~ are you trying to raise the kids as pigs for slaughter? Is this your bid plan now? Is this the task they gave you?” the younger male spat. He was fuming now.
“Don’t be disrespectful. Son, you have grown up, but that doesn’t mean I can’t reprimand you.” He released another tiresome breath. “I brought her here to keep her safe from those vicious beings. Got it,” he responded.
“Then why are there two of them? They don’t seem to be like twins by any means,” the female asked, while she looked at the photo, analysing it discreetly.
“Because they aren’t. The people I ordered to get the child somehow got confused and made a mistake~ He told them honestly.
“So, you are saying~… one has the gold blood and the other one~ she got caught up without any reason and is separated from her parents?” the younger male asked, trying to make sense of it. “Whose child is it, the other one? Do you know p>
The older man paused, hesitated, but said, “I don’t know~ p>
“So, father~… do you know~ which one has ’that’ in her? The gold blood,” the woman asked, brimming with curiosity.
“I~ he was about to say something when his eyes landed on the creaking door. The other two followed his gaze and saw a little girl aged around five or six standing there, peeking inside innocently.
The old man’s demeanour did a complete one eighty as an affectionate smile appeared on his lips, “Sweetheart~… what are you doing standing there? Come in~… come to grandpa p>
The girl pushed the door open and sauntered in, with a spring in her steps. She was wearing a pastel yellow umbrella frock, looking like a princess. In a very adorable tone, she hugged the man sitting in the chair and said, “Glan~ Grandma asked me~… to call you all for lunch p>
“Ohh~… is it lunch time already?” the older man said as he ruffled her hair.
He got up, adjusted his suit buttons and said, “We will talk about rest of the matter at the office. Let’s go, your mother~… she is waiting for us.” And with that, he took his granddaughter’s hand and walked out of his study.

(Myra’s POV)
My whole body feels like it is filled with lead. And the pain, the torturous pain~… it is back again. As I tried to open my eyes, they fluttered several times.
I moved my fingers and found I was clutching onto something. Or more like someone. I recalled how, before falling asleep, I held onto Dad’s hand but strangely enough~ The hand I was gripping it wasn’t big and hard. But soft and small. I could even feel the sharp edges of the nails.
My drowsiness instantly faded away as my eyes flew open. The room was considerably dark. At first, I couldn’t see anything. Nervously, I called out, “D~ad… Da~d… Dad.” My voice came out throaty.
A slight movement gave me goosebumps, but the next second I heard the familiar voice, my body relaxed on its own, “Ra~ra, hey~… it’s me p>
